Wir, die BOS18, waren vom 20. Februar 2019 bis zum 23. Februar 2019 auf Klassenfahrt. Wir flogen vom Hamburger Flughafen innerhalb von 2 Stunden mit Ryanair nach Dublin.
Nachdem wir in Dublin angekommen waren, haben wir in dem irischen Pub namens „St. John Gogarty Bar“ unser Abendessen gegessen. Das Hostel befindet sich direkt im Kulturherzens Dublins. Genauer gesagt über dem St. John Gogarty Pub, dem Mittelpunkt des Stadtteils Temple Bar.
Zum Frühstück gab es Toastbrot und eine Auswahl an Marmelade. Außerdem gab es Obst, sowie Müsli und Käse. Zu trinken gab es Säfte, Kaffee und Milch. Am Donnerstag haben wir ein Picknick gemacht, manche gingen zu McDonalds, manche aßen Fish&Chips. Am Abend waren wir zusammen in einem mongolischen Restaurant, wo es Buffet gab. Freitagabend haben wir Pizza bestellt und Mousse au Chocolat selbst gemacht.
Das Wetter in Irlands Hauptstadt war durch viele Sonnenstunden, aber auch durch den vorherrschenden Wind, geprägt.
Am Donnerstag führte uns Bartel durch Dublin und erzählte uns etwas über die Geschichte der Stadt und ihre Sehenswürdigkeiten.
Vom Hostel aus liefen wir zusammen vorbei an: The Spire, City Hall, Dublin Castle und zu Leo Burdock, dem ältesten Fish&Chips Shop in Dublin.
Am Freitagmorgen sahen wir uns das Trinity College an. Zunächst führte uns die Studentin Catey über den Campus und erzählte uns etwas über die Geschichte des Colleges. Danach sahen wir uns „The Old Library“ und die Ausstellung zum "Book of Kells" an.
Freitagnachmittag besuchten wir das Guinness Storehouse. Das Museum in der alten Brauerei erstreckt sich über sechs Etagen. Jede behandelt ein eigenes Thema. Ganz oben befindet sich die Gravity Bar. Dort bekam jeder ein Freigetränk und konnte den 360 Grad Ausblick mit Musik genießen.
In Dublin hatten wir auch ein wenig Freizeit. Einige nutzen diese um ein kühles Softgetränk zu trinken und die Live-Musik zu genießen. Außerdem besuchten die Lehrerinnen und ein Schüler ein örtliches Theater.
Am letzten Abend machten die Lehrkräfte eine Event-Tour mit dem Bus. Im Nachhinein kann man aufgrund der Preise der Speisen und Getränke sagen, dass die Stadt für Touristen sehr teuer ist.
We, the BOS18, were on a class trip from February 20th, 2019 to February 23rd, 2019.
We flew to Dublin via Hamburg Airport. The flight with Ryanair lasted 2 hours.
After we arrived in Dublin, we ate our dinner in the Irish pub called "St. John Gogarty Bar". The hostel is located in the heart of Dublin - more precisely, above the St. John Gogarty Pub, right in the centre of the Temple Bar district.
For breakfast we had toast and a selection of jams. There was also fruit, muesli and cheese. To drink there were juices, coffee and milk. On Thursday we had a picnic, some went to McDonalds, the rest ate fish & chips. In the evening we went together to a Mongolian restaurant where we had a buffet. On Friday evening we ordered pizza and made mousse au chocolat ourselves.
The weather in the capital of Ireland had some sunny hours (due to the Gulf Stream) but also a pretty windy climate.
On Thursday (21st Feb, 2019) our Irish tour guide Bartel led us through Dublin and told us something about the history of the city and its sights. From the hostel we walked together past the "The Spire" city hall and Dublin castle to Leo Burdock, the oldest fish & chips shop in Dublin.
On Friday morning, we went to Trinity College. First the student Catey took us around the campus and told us something about the history of the college. Then we visited the Old Library and saw the Book of Kells.
On Friday afternoon, we visited the Guiness Storehouse. The museum in the old brewery extends over six floors. Each one has its own theme. On the top is the Gravity Bar. Everybody got a free (soft) drink and we could enjoy the music and the 360° view from the lookout.
In Dublin we also had a little bit of free time. Some used this to have a soft drink in a bar and enjoyed the live music. Moreover the teachers and one student visited a local theater. On the last evening the teachers went on a haunted bus tour.
In retrospect, due to the price of food and drink we came to the conclusion that the city is very expensive for tourists in places.
